Explaining the timeliness of implementation of truth commission recommendations

Truth commissions are widely seen as important peacebuilding tools partially because they issue recommendations that seek to prompt further justice initiatives address past abuses and promote institutional reforms encourage non-repetition. Yet, despite growing interest in truth among academics, policymakers, activists, little attention has been paid the outline their final reports. In this article, we examine factors shape whether when commission enacted. Thus, explain not only implemented, but also how quickly implemented. We use survival analysis test effects of a range political economic country-level variables, commission-specific qualities, recommendation characteristics on implementation record nearly 700 formulated by ten Latin American operated between 1984 2014.
